Privacy Policy

Who we are

This policy covers the LYLLTH app for macOS and this website, both published by NIGHTSHAPE ("we", "us"). It explains what information LYLLTH handles, where it is kept, and the choices you have.

What we collect

Nothing. LYLLTH has no account system, no sign-in and no server of ours that it talks to. It does not include analytics, advertising, attribution or crash-reporting software, and it does not build a profile of you or your device. We do not receive your projects, audio, MIDI or settings.

Information that stays on your Mac

To work as a music workstation, LYLLTH stores the following locally on your Mac. None of it is sent to us.

• Projects. .lyllth project packages, including the song, imported and recorded audio, checksums and a recovery copy, are saved wherever you choose.
• Imported files. Audio you import (for example WAV, AIFF, MP3, M4A, CAF or FLAC) and DrumKit .fkit projects you open are copied into the project so the song keeps working if the original moves.
• Recovery data. An edit journal and recording journal are kept on your Mac so LYLLTH can offer to restore your work after an unexpected interruption.
• Presets, wavetables and kits. Sounds you save are stored in ~/Library/Application Support/LYLLTH.
• Preferences. App settings such as text size, contrast and new-song defaults are stored in the standard macOS preferences system.

Microphone and audio input

LYLLTH asks for microphone access so it can record from the input you select into the current song. Audio is captured only while you are recording, is written into your project on your Mac, and is never transmitted to us. You can decline or later revoke access in System Settings ▸ Privacy & Security ▸ Microphone. Everything except audio recording keeps working without it.

MIDI devices

If you connect a MIDI controller, LYLLTH reads its note and controller messages to play instruments and record performances. That data is used locally and saved only in your projects.

Third-party plug-ins

LYLLTH can load Audio Unit instruments and effects that you have installed from other developers. Those plug-ins are separate software. Their handling of data, including any network activity or licensing checks they perform, is governed by their developers' own privacy policies, not this one. LYLLTH stores each plug-in's settings in your project so the song reopens the way you left it.

When data leaves your Mac

Only when you choose to send it. Exported masters, stems, MIDI files and .fkit projects are written to the location you pick. If you save projects in a synced folder such as iCloud Drive, or share them by AirDrop, email or another app, that transfer is handled by Apple or the service you choose and is governed by their privacy policies. It does not pass through us.

Apple services

If you obtain LYLLTH through the App Store, Apple processes the transaction; we never see your payment details. If you have chosen in macOS to share analytics with app developers, Apple may provide us with anonymized crash reports and usage statistics. Apple's privacy policy governs that sharing, and you can turn it off in System Settings ▸ Privacy & Security ▸ Analytics & Improvements.

This website

This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising scripts. Its fonts are served from this site. It is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes standard technical request data such as IP address and browser type to deliver the pages and protect them from abuse, under Cloudflare's own privacy policy.

If you contact us

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in the message. We use it only to reply to you, do not add you to any mailing list, and delete the correspondence when it is no longer needed to help you.

Retention

We hold no app data about you, so there is nothing for us to retain. Data LYLLTH stores on your Mac remains until you delete it. To remove it, delete your .lyllth projects, the ~/Library/Application Support/LYLLTH folder and the app.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, laws such as the GDPR, UK GDPR and CCPA/CPRA give you rights to access, correct, delete or port personal data, and to object to or restrict its processing. Because LYLLTH does not collect personal data, we hold nothing about you from the app to return or erase. If you have emailed us and want that correspondence deleted, or have any other privacy request, contact us at the address below and we will respond within 30 days. We do not sell or share personal information.

Children's privacy

LYLLTH is a general-audience music production tool and is not directed at children under 13. It collects no personal information from anyone, including children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information by email, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

Because your work stays on your Mac, its security depends on your device. LYLLTH writes projects atomically and verifies media with checksums to protect against corruption. We recommend keeping macOS up to date and backing up your projects.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. If a future version of LYLLTH ever collects any personal data, this policy will be updated before that version is released.
